Der Sommer ist da

Slow groove, German vocal track

There’s not that much to add to the lyrics of this release. In the beginning it was supposed to become an instrumental, again! But while working on the music in late summer, I took an afternoon walk. After a lengthy, rainy spell the sun was shining for a couple of days. I just had discovered the productive quietness of my new home, but the sunshine also made me nostalgic for the lively part of town, which I had left behind in spring. Sure I could have spend the evening in another quarter to celebrate the last sunrays. But no. For the first time in what feels like decades, I had lyrics in my head, and they went together with a current melody. The new tune’s arrangement was changed immediately. Who knows, maybe I will create my original vision of an atmospheric track somewhere between Surfer’s Mood and Pet Sounds someday. What’s possibly more important than the music, is this picture taken by Tikichris (Chris Osborn). I had seen it in January 2007 on the blog of the London-based Tikiphile and secured it right away for my next release. The picture says so much and is stylistically immaculate. It even featured the block-like geometry of certain 1960s lp-layouts. It’s just perfect. There are naked people even! Back then I was still thinking about an album (crazy, isn’t it?), but after another summer had passed it dawned on me that the photograph fits Der Sommer ist da (Summer is Here) like a glove.
