Jeff Chenault presents Sounds for Sophisticated Savages

Exotica researcher Jeff Chenault has become a well-known figure in the Exotica world. His extensive research comes from a lifetime love affair with music and his consummate passion for unusual sounds. For the past two years he has presented his Exotica seminars to enthusiastic crowds at the Hukilau event in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. His ultimate goal is to share, educate and enlighten people with this extraordinary and fascinating form of music.

This year Jeff will present an ever-expanding version of his music seminar. The show will include an introductory overview of Exotica pioneers Martin Denny, Les Baxter and Arthur Lyman, and also chronicle more obscure artists such as Eden Ahbez and Jimmy Namaro. As an added bonus Jeff will highlight the career of Hollywood film composer Robert Drasnin. Bob’s quintessential first album Voodoo is considered by many to be a masterpiece of the genre. Bob will also be making a special guest appearance.

Join us for an entertaining and educational journey into the world of Exotica.

just a Heads up about the Surf Guitar 101 Convention,

1st off its gonna be many things surf music, and instrument/gear swap meet, multi media presentations, 4 Bands surf jam/Karaoke (sign up list to join will be posted soon) many songs, you play a Standard along with a Live backing band and get together
plus more maybe.
I am still talking to people about coming to it, and being involved. But I wanted to Officially announce when it will be.

Sat. Aug 2nd. at Suzy’s in Hermosa.

The Madeira from Midwest, Pollo Del Mar from Nor. Cal., Insect Surfers and Detonators are playing 8 pm till Midnight.

On Sun. Aug 3rd at the Huntington Beach Pier, 11 am to 5 pm will be.
The Fabulous Nomads, The Relix, Aquasonics from Colorado, Pollo Del Mar, The Maderia, and The Surftones, Feat. Matt Q from Reventlos, and Kerry Chester ex of DD’s 80s band.

I Figured it would be best to announce it asap, as I know the sooner the better, for arranging for airfare and sleeping and car accommodations.

There is also a San Diego show with Pollo, Maderia, Secret Samurai, and Zombie Surf Camp, on the Fri. nite. Aug 1st. If anybody would like to go down there to get an early start on the Reverb overdose weekend.

New Enchanted Tiki Room Collectibles Preview
Well now! It’s finally time to reveal an exciting project we’ve been working on for the past several months. Jody and I will release four new collectibles at a special merchandise event in June to honor the 45th anniversary of Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room at Disneyland. The show in California is still the original (mostly) and best (assuredly), and it’s probably no surprise to you that it is our favorite place at Disneyland.
